Accredited OHS & Safety Training Across South Africa

IMTCT delivers TETA & SETA accredited OHS and safety training to clients across all nine provinces. Whether you operate in mining, construction, manufacturing, transport or logistics — our qualified trainers come to your site, or you can attend scheduled courses at our Emalahleni training centre in Mpumalanga.

We offer First Aid Level 1, 2 & 3, Basic & Advanced Fire Fighting, Working at Heights & Fall Arrest, HIRA, Confined Spaces Entry, Forklift Operation, SHE Representative, Legal Liability, Incident Investigation, Environmental Awareness, Scaffolding, Safety Supervisor and Medical Surveillance — all fully accredited and certificate-bearing. All training is delivered by qualified facilitators at competitive rates, with certificates, attendance registers and training records supplied for your safety file.

Recover Your Skills Development Levy

We provide end-to-end support for Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) submissions, and for Discretionary Grant applications. Accredited training reported correctly supports your Mandatory Grant claim against the Skills Development Levy, turning training expenditure into a recoverable investment rather than a sunk cost.

OHS Compliance & Consulting Support

  • Legal register management — maintained and updated as legislation changes
  • Department of Labour inspection preparation and audit support
  • OHS management system development and implementation
  • Risk assessment and compliance auditing

Our team works to the OHS Act 85 of 1993, the Mine Health and Safety Act, the COID Act and the applicable Codes of Practice.

Why Companies Choose IMTC

  • No sub-contractors — every programme is delivered by a full-time, credentialed facilitator on our payroll, so you inherit our compliance record rather than someone else’s risk
  • Audited quarterly, not annually — our primary SETA audits us four times a year and we retain full accreditation
  • Rapid certificate turnaround — certificates issued promptly on completion
  • Operating since 2012 across mining, construction, transport, manufacturing and the public sector

ISO Management System Implementation & Auditing

Alongside training, we help companies build and maintain the management systems their clients and regulators expect. Our consultancy team implements and audits:

  • ISO 45001 — Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems
  • ISO 9001 — Quality Management Systems
  • ISO 14001 — Environmental Management Systems

We cover gap analysis, system development and documentation, internal auditing, and compliance auditing to keep your system audit-ready between external assessments. Because we also deliver the underlying training, competency records and system documentation stay aligned instead of drifting apart.

Online training is available for selected courses. We also supply PPE and cleaning products, so you can equip and train your team through one supplier.

B-BBEE Level 1 Contributor

IMTC is a B-BBEE Level 1 contributor. Training you buy from us carries 135% procurement recognition on your preferential procurement scorecard, and accredited training spend also counts towards the Skills Development element. Your training budget works twice on your B-BBEE scorecard.

Safety Management Training For Supervisors And Managers

If you are looking for safety management training or safety training for supervisors, our Safety Supervisor and Legal Liability courses cover the responsibilities that managers and supervisors carry under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993. These courses suit anyone appointed to a health and safety role, anyone signing off on legal appointments, and supervisors accountable for safety performance on site.

Combined with SHE Representative, HIRA and Incident Investigation, they form a practical safety management programme for a supervisory team — delivered at your premises, anywhere in South Africa.

Frequently Asked Questions From Employers

Do you deliver safety training at our premises?

Yes. All of our accredited courses can be delivered on site at your premises, anywhere in South Africa. Our trainers travel to you with all required training equipment, which avoids staff travel costs and lost production time. Training can also be attended at our Emalahleni training centre in Mpumalanga.

Is there a minimum group size for in-house training?

No. We take group bookings of any size, from a small team through to your entire workforce. Training is quoted according to the number of delegates and the course selected. Scheduled courses at our Emalahleni centre are also available.

Which areas of South Africa do you cover?

We deliver training in all nine provinces. Our trainers regularly work in Mpumalanga, Gauteng, Limpopo, North West, KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Free State and Northern Cape, including Emalahleni, Middelburg, Secunda, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Rustenburg, Steelpoort, Polokwane and Durban.

Are your certificates accredited and audit-ready?

Yes. IMTC is accredited by TETA and the FP&M SETA under QCTO delegation, and is approved by the Department of Labour to issue First Aid Levels 1, 2 and 3 certificates of competency and to provide lifting machinery operator training. Every delegate receives a certificate, and we supply attendance registers and training records for your safety file.

How many first aiders does the OHS Act require?

Under General Safety Regulation 3 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993, an employer with more than 10 employees must ensure that qualified first aiders are available, generally at a ratio of at least one first aider for every 50 employees at the workplace. Higher risk workplaces may require more. Employers should confirm their specific obligations against the regulations applicable to their industry.

Which safety training is legally required for South African employers?

The Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations place several training obligations on employers. Common requirements include first aid, basic fire fighting and emergency evacuation, appointment and training of health and safety representatives where more than 20 people are employed, hazard identification and risk assessment, and task-specific training such as working at heights, confined space entry and forklift operation. The exact requirements depend on your industry and risk profile.

Can safety training be claimed back against our Skills Development Levy?

Accredited training undertaken by your staff can be reported in your Workplace Skills Plan and Annual Training Report, which supports a Mandatory Grant claim against the Skills Development Levy. Accredited training also contributes to the Skills Development element of your B-BBEE scorecard. Your SETA and B-BBEE verification agency confirm what is claimable in your case.

Do your courses carry Saiosh CPD points?

Yes. Working at Heights and Working in Confined Spaces are verified by Saiosh as carrying CPD points, which registered safety practitioners can use towards maintaining their professional registration. IMTC is a registered corporate member of Saiosh.

How quickly can training be arranged?

We respond to quote requests within 24 to 48 hours. Lead time for on-site delivery depends on group size, location and course, and is confirmed with your quote.
